3) Why do I need to fund-raise or pay for the membership fee?
The membership fee is needed for and allocated as follows:

5) How does a student earn service club hours?
a) Participation in any projects organized and approved by the Service Club. These projects are posted on the Service Club board in the LHS Cafeteria and on the LHS website.
b) Campus PRIDE – There are several scheduled Campus Pride Cleanups each year. A Student receives 3 hours for participation in each cleanup. Each student MUST participate in at least one campus cleanup.
c) Sales of Service Club Sponsorships (1 hour for each $25 in Sponsorships - Sponsorships must be sold by Nov. 14, 2008.)
d) Blue Club members will be allowed to credit up to 8 hours of approved individual project summer 2011 service hours, and credit for all hours served for Service Club sponsored summer projects.
e) Donations of items for any community project. Hours vary according to project.
f) Volunteering for PTO projects.
6) How does a student get credit for service hours?
For Service Club projects with a parent project leader, the parent project leader will record all student hours. For projects such as ACE, all service record forms must be filled out completely and include the signature and phone number of the contact person authorizing and verifying the service rendered.
Note: In the event that a student signs up for a service commitment and is unable to fulfill the commitment, he/she is responsible for securing a substitute AND notification of the change to the contact person. Failure to follow through on a service commitment will result in a deduction of accumulated hours equivalent to the hours missed for the first offence. Multiple offences will result in dismissal from LHS Service Club for the remainder of the school year, and probation the following year.
7) Who keeps up with my service hours?
Records of each student’s service will be gathered and maintained by the LHS PTO Service Club Advisors based on the service forms turned in to the deposit box or from a parent project leader. A copy of the service record is kept on file throughout the student’s high school years, and for one year following graduation.
