Activity
September
  • Meet with counselor to discuss graduation requirements.
  • Contact colleges to receive admissions materials.
  • Create an admissions checklist for the college of your choice.
  • Research scholarship opportunities.
  • Begin working on your college essay.
  • Register to retake the SAT and/or the ACT.
October
  • Begin working on your applications. If applying for early decision, complete and mail applications.
  • If you are an athlete, register with the NCAA Clearinghouse on line at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net
  • Take the SAT and/or ACT.
  • Ask teachers/counselors for letters of recommendation.
November & December
  • Complete and mail applications.
  • Have High School transcripts mailed to colleges by completing a Transcript Request form and returning the form plus $2.00 to Mrs. Sacco in the Registrar's Office.
  • Retake the SAT and/or ACT for a higher score.
  • Have your counselor review your applications before mailing.
January
  • Check to make sure your applications have been received.
  • Keep your counselor informed of new activities, scholarships, and awards.
  • Obtain a FAFSA form from your counselor or register online at: www.fafsa.ed.gov
  • Attend the Financial Aid Workshop in January offered by LHS.
  • Inform parents that income tax returns need to be completed early.
  • Request 1st semester grades to be sent to school of choice (if school requires).
February
  • Speak with your parents and counselors about admissions decisions.
  • Complete and submit your FAFSA application.
March & April
  • Contact scholarship and financial aid offices at your school of choice to check on your status.
  • If you are wait-listed send updated information.
  • Retest SAT and/or ACT if necessary.
May
  • Make your decision.
  • Take AP exams (if applicable).
  • Send deposit to school of choice.
  • Inform other colleges you will not attend.
  • Request a final High School transcript to be sent to your college.
